Why seal concrete
Water gets into the smallest pores and cracks in a slab. Over time it can erode the surface, and when it freezes it expands and pushes cracks further apart. Water that reaches reinforcing steel can also lead to corrosion. Along with thermal changes, settling and stress, these conditions gradually reduce the quality of concrete.
Concrete sealers fill the surface of the concrete to help prevent moisture from entering, and they help protect embedded rebar from corrosion damage. Sealers do not repair structural cracks, so damaged areas are evaluated and repaired first.

What does a concrete sealer do?
A concrete sealer helps keep water and other liquids from entering the concrete surface. That helps reduce erosion, freeze-thaw damage and corrosion of embedded reinforcing steel over time. Pacific Coast Contracting selects a sealer based on the surface, exposure and how the area is used.
Will a sealer fix cracks in concrete?
No. Sealers help protect sound concrete but do not repair structural cracks or damage. Cracks, spalls and damaged areas should be evaluated and repaired before a sealer is applied. Pacific Coast Contracting can assess the slab and recommend repairs along with the sealer.
How often should concrete be resealed?
