What containment linings do
Containment linings are protective coating systems applied to the concrete areas that hold or catch liquids. Primary containment holds a liquid in normal use. Secondary containment is the backup that captures a leak or spill if the primary container fails. The systems PCC uses are designed to provide redundant protection against spills and leakage, and each is time-tested, with decades of in-field application behind the technology and installation techniques.

Selection considerations
- Chemical list. The lining has to be compatible with each chemical stored, at its concentration and temperature.
- Immersion or splash. Constant immersion is more demanding than occasional spills.
- Cracks and movement. Concrete cracks and joints need to be treated, and some areas call for crack-bridging or flexible systems.
- Specifications and regulations. Containment requirements vary by jurisdiction and by what is stored. The owner or engineer typically sets the requirements, and PCC installs to that specification.
- Inspection. Linings should be inspected and maintained over time.

What is the difference between primary and secondary containment?
